It Is Still Not About Gun Control

There is an element that wants to capitalize on the Las Vegas tragedy and claim it’s because of a lack of gun control. It has never been about gun control. It is about human control. No amount of gun control would have prevented this. The very type of individual who has done this would have still found a way.

Gun control does not keep weapons out of the hands of criminals. Gun control in fact, would give them more freedom to commit their crimes, because they would not have to worry about citizens having the means to protect themselves.

All anyone needs to do is look at the examples where so called gun control is in force. Consider those countries like N. Korea, Germany before WW11, present day Venezuela, to name just a few. The very citizens of those countries had or have no way to defend themselves against monsters such as Hitler, Maduro, or Kim Jong-un.

Once a populace has been deprived of weapons, then the Government has complete authoritarian control. In such a case, it is no longer a government of freedom. While gun control and the attempts to justify it using other countries where genocide and ethnic murder have taken place, it has much to do with socioeconomic climate in what are often 3rd World countries than the lack of arms to defend a populace.

Such is not the case in the United States. Militias have NEVER been shown to defend tyranny, rather fuel it! It was a revolutionary army that defended the United States against a foreign enemy, with help from other countries as well. In some cases what started out as militias became the guerrilla groups that ravaged many areas in the name of the Civil War effort, but were nothing more than savage cutthroats.

Gun control would not have prevented what happened in Las Vegas. As unfortunate as it is and tragic, we have seen on countless occasions that when there is a determination to create mayhem, in the mind of deranged individuals, they will find a way. As it has been said many times, guns don’t kill people. People kill people.

What has not been used as a weapon of destruction? Knives, hammers, vehicles, fertilizer, explosives, aircraft, plastic bags, and the list goes on. On top of that the information for making destructive devices, including an atom bomb, have been discovered on the Internet. So if it is a question of placing blame, even the internet is a silent culprit.

While the number of fatalities and wounded are significant, it is aggravated by the media and exploded into something far more massive than it is. For them it’s all about money, and they prey on the horror and fear this raises in all of us. How bad would it be if we didn’t hear about it every fifteen minutes using words guaranteed to create anguish, even though there were none of our friends or relatives involved. Not to mention you are most likely hundreds of miles away.

While the question will be asked why this individual had so many weapons and why that many were necessary, it will also be interesting to see how many were legally registered. So many if legally registered to one individual, should raise concern in the first place. But will we learn anything from this? Let’s hope so, but gun control that takes weapons away from the populace is not the answer.
