Went For A Walk IN The Usual Way!

Went for a walk in the usual way
Only fog was my companion on this day

Couldn’t see far in front but see I could
When a runner passing by fell then stood

Started in the dark just before day came
And above the fog daylight came to reign

Walking uphill it got lighter still
Birds were singing which is always a thrill

I thought as I climbed what do others see
Are they blinded by fog like the runner passing me

He fell then stood no worse for the wear
Laughing with friends seeming not to care

Do they walk and run to get from “A” to “B”
Are they here to exercise and enjoy it like me

Did they hear the birds when they sang loud and clear
Or just thinking when they’re  done they can have a beer

I love to see the day as it begins
Hearing those birds greet all those within

All the trees are standing so straight and tall
Determined to reach up where the sun bathes them all

Went for a walk in the usual way
It’s always the same, different every day.

A rock rolls underfoot first here then there
As it hurries downhill coming to rest somewhere

Voices pierce through the fog accompanied by a light
As riders roll by surely wishing for better sight

Silhouettes of others going the opposite way
As greetings go forth and to have a good day

I play hide and seek with a couple I know
Keeping it a mystery about where did I go

It’s a game that I play of which they have no clue
It makes my walk more fun when I avoid those two

It takes me down trails I would not have known
Discovering new panoramas as I roam

Discovering new panoramas as I roam...
Discovering new panoramas as I roam…

Uphill and down on these treacherous trails
Makes it sweeter still as more beauty is unveiled

It makes my heart soar that I get to see
More of God’s handiwork intended for me

It’s meant for others should they come this way
Whether they see it or not is hard for me to say

Observing eyes He has given me
To know He exists and will always be

Still there are those who will see and deny
Refusing to believe there’s anything above the sky

Claiming a just God would never allow
Earthquakes and pestilence, death all around

Tsunamis and volcanoes, floods and all
How easy to forget life never promised a ball

Glass half empty or half full which do you see
Do you look for the source instead of either of these

Life really can be an amazing affair
In spite of cell phones, face book or what to wear

So often the important things are just not seen
Hidden by all that would hide in between

Are you really seeing what’s here and now
Or are you stuck in the past so you don’t know how

Give up trying to create what is dead and gone
Instead get a grip on now and move on.
